Vodafone is one of the world's largest telecommunications companies and one of the UK's Big Four mobile networks. Vodafone UK operates its own independent network infrastructure and has extensive 4G coverage across the country, with an expanding 5G footprint in major cities and towns. Vodafone's APN — wap.vodafone.co.uk — requires no authentication credentials, which makes setup straightforward. One notable quirk: Vodafone uses port 8799 for MMS (rather than the more common 8080 used by O2-based carriers), so take care to enter this value exactly. If your Vodafone SIM isn't connecting to mobile data after inserting it in a new or factory-reset phone, these settings are what you need.

Which Phones Do These Settings Work On?

Vodafone APN settings work on all Android phones running Android 8 or later and iPhones on iOS 14+. On Android 12+ find APN settings under Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → [your SIM] → Access Point Names. On dual-SIM devices, make sure you are editing the correct SIM slot.

Vodafone APN Troubleshooting

Vodafone SIMs can push automatic configuration that locks the APN editor. Remove and reinsert the SIM, or go to Settings → General Management → Reset Network Settings on Samsung. You can also request manual APN access via Vodafone's live chat.
Confirm the APN is selected (radio button active). Check mobile data is on and that your Vodafone account has active data. Ensure the APN is exactly wap.vodafone.co.uk — any extra spaces or typos will prevent connection. No username or password is needed for Vodafone.
Vodafone uses a non-standard MMS port of 8799 — this is the most common MMS setup error on Vodafone. Double-check that your port is 8799 (not 8080). MMSC should be http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms and proxy 212.183.137.12.
Automatic OTA configuration from Vodafone can override manual settings. Contact Vodafone support and request they disable OTA config pushes. Alternatively, try resetting network settings completely before re-entering the APN details.
Verify MCC is 234 and MNC is 15. Vodafone's MNC is 15 — using the wrong value (e.g. 10 or 20) will prevent your phone from identifying the correct network configuration. Also check that Protocol is set to IPv4/IPv6 for broadest compatibility.
